15th June 2022
As you are aware, the school is currently based at the Blackbird Leys Community Centre, which is being redeveloped in Summer 2022. Despite an extensive search in the surrounding areas, we have been unable to find a suitable alternative premises for the school. Furthermore, as Catch22 Oxford does not have a block contract of learners in place, and therefore no guaranteed income, this has made future planning very challenging.
We have completed a consultation with all staff on the future of the include Oxford provision. Unfortunately, the outcome of the consultation was that the provision will be closing at the end of this academic year. The school will continue to operate during the summer term as normal, up to Thursday 21 July when it will close for the summer holidays. The school will then officially close on Wednesday 31 August.
For students, all summer examinations will continue as planned and Year 11 leavers will be fully supported in their successful transition to the next step in the education. The team of school staff will also be supporting Year 9 and 10 students, via the referral process, to identify appropriate placements for next year and complete emergency annual reviews where necessary.
The provision in Oxford has supported a wide range of learners over the past ten years and it is with great sadness that we announce the closure of the provision. I would like to thank you for the partnership that we have been able to build over the last ten years. Our priority, as always, is to ensure that the impact is as minimal as possible for the young people that we work with throughout this final term.
